A Cock's Story

Yesterday nite, I went dinner with Donny at Madam Wong's place. This is an organic vegetalian's restaurant at Smith Street. Since last Chinese New Year, I have noticed 3 beautiful Cock's picture was hanging near the entrance area. I wonder will it be for geomacy, I was curious to confirm with Mdm Wong, eventually an interesting cock's storey was reavealed.

When Madm Wong took over this restaurant in 2002, her favourite spot in this shop was the small court yard behind the shop. She was thinking of rear some kind of pets there, probably build a false mountain and put a swing chair there so that she can rest and have a cup of tea there watching her pets. Of course, later, her friends from the temple adviced her not to rest there because the aircon's exhaust pipe is all blowing towards this court yard, the air circularation will be bad there. So, she took their advice and did not put any chair there, but she still go ahead to have some pets there.

Her friends brought her to Chua Chu Kang Farm to look at the pet chicken. Frankly, this is the first time I come to know there is such thing as pet chicken. She saw two very beautiful pet chickens, the farm quoted her at S$350/- each, two for S$700/-. (wow a kampong chicken in the wet market only selling for S$8/-!) She thought it is too expensive, so she went on to look at another farm. She show the small chicks which was just 2 to 3 days old. The farm asked for S$35/- each. After some negotiation, she managed to close the deal at S$25/- each and she bought 4 little chicks - 3 white and 1 black without knowing the sex of the chick. The seller told her it will be all your luck, because they are too small to distingush the sexual identity.

She kept the chicks inside the court yard during the day, and brought them to the toilet during the nite. After a few weeks, the chicks grow gradually, and it was obviously one is the cock, and the other three are the hens. The three hens eventually are the wife and concubine to the cock. Madam Wong said you will know which hen is the wife and which are the concubine. The wife is fat, elegant, fierce and highly jealous, while the concubine is skinnier and more tame than the wife. When the wife lay eggs, it will force the concubine to hack the eggs for her. If they don't agree, the wife will pull their feather from their skin.

Once, Madam Wong heard the chicken are qualleling in the back yard, she went in to check what happened. She saw the cock standing at the high place, it caught an worm in its mouth, the three hens was at the lower floor qualleling, the cock was wondering up there and undecisive who to give. Madam Wong shouted at her cock, " Stupid husband, eat for yourself la, what for you want to give it to your wivies..........wait later, your wife will fight with you........."
Suddenly, the cock drop the worm on the floor and none has chance to eat it, True enough the wife chased after the cock, flight and pull its tails.

Madam Wong has a lot of fun with its pets. Whenever there is storm coming, the chicken will be excitedly jumping, and make a lot of noise to inform Madm Wong that the storm is coming. And every time was true - more accurate than the whether forecast!\

Once Madam Wong's daughter saw the wife so fieceful, she scolded her something like, "You so fiece, that's why this life you are here to be chicken!............" You think what? The chicken understand every single words she said, and she did not like it, hence, every time it saw her, she will quietly stand behind her, and pock her leg from behind.

The type of pet chicken is very clever, they understannd and remember their enemy, whenever they met their enemy, it will attack them again and again.
